Updated: Mar 16, 2020

About This Content As one of the largest classes of first generational diesel multiple units, the Class 101 is a favourite of early diesel fans and now available in Regional Railways livery for Train Simulator.More than 500 sets of the Class 101 were built by Metro-Cammell Works in Birmingham from 1956. Sets were supplied in two, three and four car units, depending on the service they were intended for. They were spread across the British railway network with the final five units being withdrawn 47 years after first entering service in December 2003, although their popularity has seen many units being preserved on heritage railways around the UK.The BR Class 101 for Train Simulator is available in Regional Railways livery and features manual gear change control, fully detailed cab and control panel and in-cab lighting. Also included are a number of exciting scenarios for the Liverpool-Manchester route.ScenariosFour scenarios for the Liverpool-Manchester route:Training: Class 101 Expert ControlsTraining: Class 101 Simple ControlsAirport Express ServiceCommuter to ManchesterMore scenarios are available on Steam Workshop online and in-game. A lovely DMU and is a must for those early scenarios and on.. I'm wavering on the point of 'not recommended'. Graphically, this DMU is fine, but the default sounds are not very good, and the RPM gauge doesn't work right (gives you 'change up' at the wrong time). It is however a dependency for some other DLC (e.g. the Just Trains Western Mainline route to do the Class 50 scenario from Exeter to Paddington).Add the Armstrong Powerhouse enhancements (which enhances both the sounds, with sound recorded from the real 101) and the problems are fixed and it's a really nice simulation of the 101 - but it means spending another \u00a37 at the Armstrong Powerhouse website. With the enhancement, it's the proper "bog unit" it should be, and great for all those stopping services.. As someone who's not from the UK, I was surprised by this train. It feels like an old and crappy DMU, but the noise it makes is lovely. The train has 4 gears, which certainly gives it another flavour. Regardless of the gears, it's still pretty easy to control. I just wish it had a few more scenarios included.. DONT BUY THIS ON IT'S OWN.Buy the main pack, however. I think this is a very nice skin for the 101, and it comes free if you purchase the main one.. Got this loco free off DTG in an upgrade, again play with it everywhere. Can only say thankyou to DTG for giving this loco away, to customers.. Has to be a thumbs up...
